Art Therapy Santa Ynez Valley
Art therapy is appropriate for all ages and often leads to increased confidence, self-awareness, and self-esteem. Improved communication, concentration and decreased feelings of isolation are just a few of the benefits of art therapy.
Art therapy helps individuals by reducing stress, managing addiction, exploring emotions and can help to cope with a physical illness or disability. Art experience is not necessary to successfully participate in art therapy. Individuals who struggle to properly express themselves through talk therapy may find a release of their held emotions as they process through the various art mediums.
ART THERAPY TECHNIQUES
No art experience is needed to participate in art therapy. Art therapy can include, but is not limited to the following techniques:
- Body outline/Exploring your shadow
- Clay/Sculpting
- Collage/Vision Board
- Masks
- Painting/Coloring
- Drawing/Doodling/Scribbling
Resources may include:
- Water colors
- Ink

SANTA YNEZ VALLEY
The Trauma Healing Center is proud to offer Art Therapy to our clients. Currently (June 2021) there are only two registered art therapists within the county of Santa Barbara. To be able to offer Art Therapy in the centralized location of the Santa Ynez Valley means that art therapy is accessible to all potential clients within an hour radius of our center. The beauty contained within the Santa Ynez Valley gives inspiration and provides natural resources for our clients to utilize while participating in art therapy.
