Customized Healing Tools

| Rachael Morehouse | News

I think of a client’s customized healing program as an invisible tool belt.  It fits the client as loosely or as snuggly as they need it to be.  The moment a client signs up for our program, they have essentially placed an order for a tool belt in their exact size.  By signing up the intention to wear the tool belt is implied.

When a client steps through our door, on their very first day of their customized healing program, we virtually slip their tool belt around their waist.  There aren’t any tools in it yet, but the client and our staff know that very soon that tool belt will be laden with an array of trauma healing tools that they can utilize at any time...not just during their time in our program.

During their program, a client will experience some of the following tools:

  • Meditation, mindfulness & breath work - calms the central nervous system, provides self-soothing and grounding during periods of anxiety or panic attacks
  • Yoga classes & yoga therapy - brings you back into your body, learn “specific to you and your body’s needs” positions to help provide restorative relaxation
  • Acupuncture - detoxifies the body, calms the central nervous system, reduces the levels of stress hormones (cortisol) and increases your body’s natural feel good hormones
  • Life Balancing Coaching - provides a deeper dive into what areas of your life are out of balance and aftercare coaching to work toward the goals of finding this balance for: spirituality, community, work, play, and finances.
  • Trauma Processing and/or EMDR - Eye movements, similar to those during REM sleep are recreated and may provide changes in thoughts, images, and feelings.
  • Bodywork & Massage - provide a physical release to emotions trapped in the body, deep muscular relaxation and awareness of areas you may hold tension
  • Art Therapy - encourages the unfolding of the unconscious, decrease stress and anxiety while increasing self-awareness and self-esteem

During a client’s healing program, we remind them to seek these tools on their tool belt during their day to day life.  The tool belt is always there, and the more they utilize them the more it will become second nature to know which tool is needed when a stressful situation enters their life.
