Disordered Eating

| Family Counseling and Trauma Healing Center | News
Disordered eating is not a diagnosis, instead it is a way to describe irregular eating behaviors. Eating disorders have a specific and narrow criteria and are diagnosed.

Individuals who struggle with disordered eating may not understand the impact on their physical and mental health. Low blood pressure, low heart rate, isolation, depression, bone loss, gastrointestinal upset, and increased anxiety are just a few of the consequences that may result from disordered eating. Mental, physical and emotional stress often play a large part in the lives of individuals who struggle with disordered eating.

We are born with an intuitive, natural eater inside of us that knows what, when and how much to eat. As we grow and mature our intuitive eater is lost and has soaked up the wrong advice and/or information that has been fed to us along the way. But we can feel that freedom around food again through a customized healing program that can help you find that birth rite again.

For individuals looking for help with disordered eating, we offer a non-diet approach to their healing program. We help clients to focus inward on what physical sensations they have when they feel triggered to exhibit any disordered eating behaviors. Utilizing services such yoga therapy, targeted bodywork, and extra sessions with our disordered eating therapist we can better help clients recognize, minimize and heal these harmful behaviors. Imagine loving your body again and if you can’t, then think about being able to accept it…finding peace with your body and within your body.
