Grief Help Santa Ynez Valley
| Rachael Morehouse | News
Are you looking for help processing grief or loss? Bereavement is a word that is interchangeable with grief. To experience grief is not exclusive to the death of a person. You may experience emotional loss when you lose your job or your home. You may have overwhelming sadness at the loss of a relationship or the end of a marriage. People who experience grief over the loss of a beloved pet can be as painful as the loss of a human being. Complicated grief is a heightened state of mourning...much like being stuck. Unable to move on, through the grief, or be able to fully function in your daily life. Asking for support around your grief can be difficult, but help for grief is available through one on one therapy, group processing (when space is available) and our customized intensive day program.
Common Symptoms of Unresolved Grief
While everyone processes grief differently, if you are experiencing any of these symptoms for an extended period of time, you may have unresolved grief.
- Feelings of worthlessness or hopelessness
- Insomnia or disrupted sleep patterns
- Loss of appetite
- Mental & physical sluggishness
- Suicidal thoughts
- Increased inflammation and/or blood pressure
- Guilt, Sorrow or Numbness
- Increased frustration, anger or even rage
